Police in Kampala have launched an investigation into a shooting that occurred at Nomads Bar and Grill in Bunga on Sunday night.
In this incident, a reportedly drunk security guard opened fire, injuring three people before fleeing the scene.
According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, a security guard identified as Ambrose Ogwang who was deployed at the bar by Saracen security company reported on duty while drunk and opened fire at revelers.
“What we know is that the manager of the bar upon noticing that the Askari was drunk, he informed him not to work but unfortunately at around 10:30pm he looking for the manager while shooting bullets,” Owoyesigyire said
“He injured three customers including two ladies and one man who are currently receiving treatment in hospital,” he added
The shooter disappeared with the gun but police have since established that he is a resident of lower Konge in Makindye division.
Police has also recovered four cartridges from the scene implying that he shot four bullets inside the bar.
The police spokesperson said that the law enforcement body is going to follow up on any private security guards who will be reported for misbehaving while armed.
