In a shocking development, the KMP territorial team has disgracefully dismissed four officers from Kabalagala Police Station, charging them with aggravated robbery. Police say the accused officers, identified as DC Phiona Among (28), DC Angula Isaac (27), DC Baluku Shafik (26), and DC Galenda Bernard, have marred the reputation of the force.

A statement by the Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga narrates that on January 17, 2024, 37-year-old Kenyan businessman Muhammad Olad Abdirahman sought accommodation at Royal View Hotel Buziga. Requesting assistance from the hotel manager to find the best Forex bureau for exchanging his USD30,000, intended for buying a lorry, Abdirahman unwittingly became a victim.

Hotel management then allegedly tipped off DC Among, who, along with three colleagues, arrived at the hotel around 4 pm. In collaboration with a fake foreign exchange broker named Okello and the hotel manager, they orchestrated the arrest of Abdirahman and his associates.

Police says the victims were then bundled into a vehicle and driven through Kabalagala barracks road to another hotel garden, where they were robbed of the $30,000 and chased away. The victims, narrating their ordeal to a Kenyan friend, reported the incident, leading to the arrest of the four officers.

A subsequent search at their homes recovered additional dollars, meticulously documented as evidence, police say. Efforts are underway to apprehend Okello and the implicated hotel manager.

Enanga assured the public that, despite this incident, the majority of officers continue to serve with pride and integrity to keep the country safe.
