Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has spoken out about his back ailment after a video emerged showing the former presidential candidate walking with the aid of crutches.

Mr Mbabazi could be seen struggling exit Dukes Hotel in London. The video which started spreading on Monday afternoon had caused some Ugandans to speculate with some claiming the former PM had suffered a stroke, something he denied using his Twitter handle.

“To all those that have sent me get well soon messages, I thank you for your encouragement, sympathy and love. It is not true that I got a stroke. I had a back ailment which was fixed & I have actually in the last week or so been involved in fairly heavy diplomatic work. Thanks,” Mr Mbabazi who is has since 2018 been part of the advisory board of the London based peace and conservation organization, The Brazzaville Foundation.
