Suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists have attacked a school in Kasese district, killing 25 students.
The Friday night attack happened at Lhubirira Secondary School where students were attacked while sleeping in their dormitories by the terrorists.
The school, in Mpondwe, is about two kilometres from the Democratic Republic of Congo border with Uganda.
According to a statement issued by the Police, the dormitory in which the students were sleeping was burnt by the terrorists who fled back to the DRC.
“Last night, we registered a terrorist attack by the ADF rebels, on Lhubirira secondary school, in Mpondwe, that is located about 2 kms, from the DRC border. A dormitory was burnt and a food store looted.
The statement signed by the police spokesman Fred Enanga confirms that 25 bodies have been recovered from the school and transferred to Bwera Hospital while 8 sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at Bwera Hospital.
“A hot pursuit by the UPDF and the police is ongoing, towards Virunga national park,” Enanga said in the statement issued Saturday morning
