5 family members perish in Kisoro landslides. Also, in Kasese, at least 26 houses were completely destroyed by heavy rains and landslides in 6 villages
Six people have so far died in the Kisoro landslides including five from one family in Biizi village and another in Gihuyaga village, both in Murora sub-county, Kisoro in western Uganda.Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) has deployed in the affected areas to help with the exhumation and management of the dead. In a related development, at least 26 households were completely destroyed by heavy rains and landslides in 6 villages in Kyarumba sub-county in Kabonera parish, Kasese district on Monday.Another 200 households are said to be at risk while 40 households are currently camped at Kibirigha Roman Catholic church. The affected villages according to the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) are Kibirigha I, Kibirigha II, Muthambi, Kiitabona, Buthali II and Kasanzi.
